Adesa Productions Limited (APL), a subsidiary of Media General, has been handed the broadcasting rights of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.

The partnership agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) was launched at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel on Thursday, July 31.

GFA President Kurt Okraku, addressing the gathering consisting of government officials, football administrators fans and enthusiasts, said the agreement will ensure that clubs and players get paid for what they love to do.

“Today, we are unveiling a new framework. A new business model. A new vision,” the Second Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stated.

“We are rolling out a process that places a premium on what our players want, and what you need.

“For the first time, we are building a structure where our game does not only entertain, but also pays for itself, sustains the clubs, and builds wealth for all stakeholders involved.”

He announced that per the agreement all 18 GPL clubs will get an initial GH1 million for preparations for the 2025/26 season.

Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams underscored the importance of sports to the economy of the country.

“I have always believed that Ghana not only has the talent and potential, but also everything it takes to transform sports into a sustainable and lucrative indistry.

General Manager of APL Afeafa Nfojoh noted that her outfit is poised to raise the bar with regards to sports vis-a-vis it’s track record in reality shows in Ghana.

“This launch is an unveiling of a new standard  for how Ghanaian football will be seen, heard, and experienced.”

She said at least three matches will be broadcast per each matchday.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah pledged government’s support, stressing that the partnership should ensure “possibilities”.

“This is the beginning of a new chapter, a chapter written not with complaints but with collaboration; not with problems but possibilities.”
