The Free Senior High School policy introduced by the Akufo-Addo government is a catastrophe, Founder and Leader of the African Reform Movement (ARM), Dr. Nii Amu Darko, has stated.

Dr. Amu Darko believes the policy is merely a part of the NPP government’s “meaningless slogans” implemented for populism.

He says he doesn’t see the need to make secondary education free whilst the basic level is faced with teeming challenges.

“Nobody starts school in SHS. Everybody starts school in class one so every sensible policy will look at the building blocks,” he said.

Explaining his stance, Dr. Amu Darko said government should consider bridging the gap between the different category of public basic schools which were five at the time he was schooling –LA schools; Mission schools; Experimental schools; Army schools and the University basic schools.

He has referred to the policy as a catastrophe.
