The Awutu Senya West branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has castigated their District Chief Executive (DCE) for allowing police officers in the town to dwell in a rickety accommodation.

An Onua Maakye exposé aired Tuesday, April 18, 2023, revealed the state of the accommodation for the officers at Awutu Bereku is in a deplorable stat which has become life threatening for the officers.

Following the story, the NDC branch in the area has issued a statement asking the DCE, Joseph Aidoo, to bow his head in shame.

In the release, the party said the attack of the police administration by Onua TV did not come to them as a surprise –even though the host, Captain Smart only attacked the Interior Ministry and not the police administration –after failing to fulfill his his responsibility as head of head of district security.

“The DISEC Chairman needs to be proactive to disallow poor quality accommodation for the security services and their facilities.

“This is a reflection of the insecurities in Awutu Senya District. The District Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Aidoo who is supposed to work as the political head of the district is not seen to be working for the state but seen doing other things not related to the duties assigned him by the President,” the statement indicated.

As head of DISEC, the release indicated “the District Assembly led by Hon. Joseph Aidoo, has to host the Police, who in turn should be motivated to protect lives and properties and be encouraged to work harder in ensuring peace and order in our district.

“If you are the head of the police (a father) and you see your own people(children) living in this bad condition, what rings in your mind as DISEC chairman, Hon. Joseph Aidoo?”

They called on the DCE to be up to task in his duties to ensure the issue is resolved.
