Captain Smart, host of Maakye on Onua TV, has described the rate of corruption under President Akufo-Addo’s administration as a boiling point in juxtaposition with that of the John Dramani Mahama’s.

According to Captain Smart, Mahama’s administration was tagged as a corrupt one by then opposition and the media including his very self.

The corruption that engulfed Mahama’s administration amid the incompetent tag sent the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to opposition in 2016 with high hopes of Akufo-Addo coming to fight corruption.

However, he has become a monumental failure in the corruption fight despite his “I’m not corrupt” acclamation prior to becoming president.

But during his ranting Monday, October 10, 2022, Captain Smart indicated the act of corruption under the erstwhile Mahama administration is infinitesimal compared to the gargantuan ones ongoing under the Akufo-Addo led government.

His comment stems from the amount of money the NPP government has had since assuming office in 2017 without anything to show for.

“The corruption in this government is so alarming compared to that of Mahama’s own. Nana Addo’s corruption is at a boiling point,” he said.

“In reality they haven’t done anything under their One District One Factory. He (Akufo-Addo) added levies under COVID-19 and all the monies have been used for nothing.
Government says free SHS costs him $3billion per year so government has spent ₵18 million for the past 6 years on Free SHS so he can’t say the Free SHS has drained the nation’s coffers,” he added.

Meanwhile, government in 2017 made a revenue of ₵51 billion from the Ghana Revenue Service. In 2018 ₵52.3 billion was realised whilst 2019 ₵53.7 billion GH₵56.9 billion were made in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

In all, a whooping $77.5 billion including government bonds has been raised from 2017 to 2021.
