The journey of Piini of the North East Region and Nana Ama of the Ahafo Region on Ghana’s Most Beautiful h as come to an end following their eviction from the competition.
The two contestants were evicted during Week Five of GMB@20, which celebrated Ghana’s rich traditional heritage through the theme, Traditional Celebrations Night.
Piini used her performance to introduce viewers to Ti Taan Di Nan Leeb Jaam, a Bimoba celebration whose name carries the message, “Let us eat together.”
The celebration traces its roots to a period when conflict threatened the peace and harmony of the Bimoba people. According to the story presented by Piini, the people came together in the spirit of peace and unity.
Today, the festival is celebrated annually as an occasion for thanksgiving, with the community expressing gratitude for protection and seeking blessings for the year ahead.
Piini’s presentation sought to highlight the festival’s role in promoting unity, reconciliation and communal bonds among the people of the North East Region.
For Nana Ama of the Ahafo Region, the spotlight was on the Ampomasu Yam Festival, a traditional celebration observed in Ntotoroso and surrounding communities.
Taking on the role of the Queen Mother, Nana Ama explored the origins of the festival, its activities and spiritual significance, while also highlighting its contribution to community development.
Her performance offered viewers an insight into a celebration deeply rooted in the traditions and cultural identity of the Ahafo people.
Despite their efforts to tell the stories of their respective regions through culture, history and performance, Piini and Nana Ama were unable to secure enough support to remain in the competition.
Their eviction means the two contestants will no longer compete for the ultimate GMB@20 crown, bringing their journeys on the reality pageant to a close.
Their exit comes as GMB@20 continues its anniversary season, using the platform to showcase Ghana’s diverse cultural traditions, historical narratives and community celebrations.
The Traditional Celebrations Night also saw Ayinboma of the Upper East Region emerge as the Star Performer, while Nana Konadu of the Bono Region won the Most Eloquent award and An-Suaf of the Upper West Region took home the Best Costume award.
With Piini and Nana Ama now out of the competition, the remaining contestants face another stage of the GMB@20 journey as the race for the crown intensifies.
