The Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has announced that government will soon deploy 5,000 graduates in agriculture and veterinary science across the country to assist farmers to bridge the gap between research and practice.
She announced this at the 2025 Asogli Yam Festival in the Volta region.
The 2025 Asogli Yam Festival, also known as Asogli Te Za, was launched on July 14, 2025, and ran until October 5, 2025.
This year’s theme was “Together in Honesty and Purpose, We Build a Just, Peaceful and Prosperous Nation,” emphasizing unity, truth, and national development.
A grand durbar was held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, which marked the climax of the festival.

The festival showcased vibrant cultural displays, traditional music, and dance.
The festival is aimed to promote unity, peace, and cultural heritage, while also driving tourism and economic development in the Volta region.
It also serves as a platform for the Asogli people to come together, give thanks for the yam harvest, and showcase their rich cultural heritage, while providing opportunities for social cohesion, investment, and tourism development in the region.
The Vice President, Professor Opoku-Agyemang, who graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, in her speech said government was working to reduce post harvest losses suffered by farmers in the country.
“This year under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Feed Ghana Programme is being rolled out with tangible support including significant allocations that have been made to agriculture in 2025. Supporting programmes like the Vegetable Development Project and the famous ‘Nkokɔ Nkitinkiti’ poultry.
“This also includes 5,000 graduates in agriculture and veterinary science who will be deployed across the country including the Volta region to work side by side with farmers providing modern extension services, sharing new techniques and helping bridge research and practice,” she stated.
The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli state, Togbe Afede XIV urged leaders including chiefs and politicians to show commitment to the development of the country.
He said corruption is a bane of the country’s development and wants people to embrace honesty for a United Ghana.
