The Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo), the operator of the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS), has explained the cause of the intermittent power outages (dumsor) being experienced in certain parts of the country.

GRIDCo says it is due to the limited gas supply to Tema leading to a supply gap 550MW at peak time.

According to a statement issued Thursday, October 26, GRIDCo noted that the gap will create power challnges at peak time.

“This will affect power supply to consumers in some parts of the country. The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” the statement said.

The statement follows reaction to concerns raised by a section of the public on social media regarding the challenges they encountered with their power supply.

But the Company didn’t indicate how long the power rationing would last

POWER SUPPLY CHALLENGE

The Ghana Grid Company Ltd, (GRIDCo), the “Operator” of the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS) informs the general public that due to limited gas supply to Tema, there will be a supply gap of 550MW at peak time.

This will affect power supply to consumers in some parts of the country.

The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.
