After defeating former champions Stade Malien of Mali on Sunday, April 7, Dreams Football Club will proudly represent Ghana in the Total Energies CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals.

The Ghanaians, participating in their first CAF Inter-Club competition, came back from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, sending them through to the next stage of the competition 3-2 on aggregate.

This has put them within striking distance of continental glory.

This comes after a 2-1 impressive win away from home in Mali last weekend.

Kurt Okraku, the team’s director and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, was praised by head coach Karim Zito for believing in the squad and allowing them to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“The directors didn’t want us to, but the main man Kurt disagreed with them and I’m sure we didn’t disappoint him,” Karim Zito said in the post-match interview.

“This is a dream come true for us, the ultimate is our target now.”

Dreams are not only in their first-ever CAF Interclub semifinals, but they also made history by being the first Ghanaian club to advance past the first round of a CAF Interclub competition in 20 years.

Dreams’ semi-final match-up will be against Zamalek SC.
