The Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has dismissed critics who say he is not a familiar face within the sports fraternity.
He said contrary to that assumption, the majority are happy with his nomination as the sector minister.
He made this known during his vetting on Thursday, January 30, assuring that he will not disappoint all.
Kofi Adams, who is also the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama as minister for the tweaked ministry of Sports and Recreation.
But the nomination came as a surprise to many as the former National Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not a known face as regards sports in Ghana.
Answering a question on this, Kofi Adams said: “It is the case that some say so but majority are also very happy that I have been nominated.
“I will not disappoint Ghanaians and I will not disappoint His Excellency the President,” he pledged, concluding that answer by adding: “I will deliver and won’t also disappoint myself.”
The former Tutor at Adisadel College also promised to improve school sports and ensure that the National Sports Authority (NSA) is empowered to devolve sports funds to all disciplines.
