The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has confirmed the arrest of a Syrian national at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut with approximately 40 kilograms of suspected cocaine concealed in two pieces of luggage.
The Commission says the arrest follows intelligence from its operations at the Accra International Airport.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and signed by its Ag. Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, PNCO Francis Opoku Amoah, the suspect was arrested on Saturday, October 31, 2026, after arriving from Ghana.
The statement said measures are in place to arrest other members of the syndicate to bring them to book. “As part of ongoing operation, NACOC is working to arrest his accomplices in Ghana,” the statement said.
NACOC described the bust as a “controlled coordinated delivery exercise” carried out through close operational cooperation between Ghanaian and Lebanese drug law enforcement authorities.
“The joint operation aimed to identify and apprehend targets at both ends of the supply chain while gathering vital intelligence to dismantle the broader transnational criminal syndicate behind the shipment,” it added.
The Commission said the operation underscores the commitment of Ghana and Lebanon to disrupting international drug trafficking networks through cross-border intelligence-sharing.
