The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) says it has not received any indication from international partners that they have lost trust in the Commission over the handling of the $260 million cocaine case.
According to the Commission, what it is aware of are concerns about delays in the investigations.
Speaking on Hot Issues on TV3 Sunday, September 20, 2026, Twum-Barimah said the Interior Minister may have information that the Commission does not have.
He said as far as NACOC is concerned, it has not heard any agency say it does not trust it and none of its international counterparts has raised any concern.
“The Interior Minister may know something that we may not know, but what we’re aware of are the delays. We haven’t heard any of the agencies say they don’t trust NACOC; none of our counterparts have raised eyebrows,” he said.
He was responding to comments by Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak, who had questioned the pace of investigations and information sharing among the agencies working on the case.
The case involves 3,987 kilograms of cocaine, valued at about €225 million or $260 million, which was intercepted by French customs authorities at the Port of Dunkirk.
The drugs were discovered in a 40-footer container that had been shipped from the Tema Port in Ghana and was en route to Belgium.
Following the interception, NACOC announced that it had begun investigations in Ghana, leading to the arrest of some persons believed to be connected to the shipment.
The incident has since generated public debate about security lapses at the ports and the possible involvement of high-profile persons.
Among the claims that have come up in the wake of the seizure is one by New Tafo MP, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, who alleged in a Facebook post on Friday, September 18, 2026, that one of the suspects, Musah Atta, is a presidential escort.
But NACOC says none of the persons in its custody is linked to the Jubilee House.
Twum-Barimah insisted that the Commission has not arrested anyone with ties to the Presidency. “As far as I’m concerned we haven’t arrested anyone linked to the Jubilee House,” he said.
