Management of Nsoatreman FC have broken their silence over the death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.
Nana Pooley was stabbed to death at Nsoatre in the Bono Region following Nsoatreman FC’s 1-0 win over the Porcupine Warriors in a Matchday 19 game of the Ghana Premier League.
He was stabbed near the Prof Amoah Koramansah II Park.
Investigations into the murder are ongoing with six persons including the President of Nsoatreman FC, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, facing murder charges.
On Monday, management of Asante Kotoko raised concerns that their counterparts at Nsoatreman have not reached out to them since the incident occurred on Sunday, February 2.
A few moments later Nsoatreman broke the silence.
“This statement is made following the death of Nana Pooley that occurred during the football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kotoko on Sunday, 2nd February, 2025 at the Nana Amoah Kronmansah II Park, Twumasukrom,” the club said, adding: “On this day, management wish to state that the said death is unfortunate and regrettable.
“Life is precious and it is condemnable when life like that of Francis Yaw Frimpong (Nana Pooley) is lost in such a manner.”
They sent their condolences to Asante Kotoko and affirmed that the real culprits will be “brought to book and Justice served”.
They also prayed for patience and asked that tempers calm “as the police continue to do their work to its logical conclusion”.
