Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has advised his supporters not to retaliate attacks levelled against him by his opponents as the party’s internal election intensifies.

He has stressed the need for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stay united and run a peaceful campaign as the polls draws closer.

The Vice President says the real vision is to defeat the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024 immediately the internal contest is completed.

He told some party supporters in the Ashanti region during a campaign tour not to attack other aspirants who pick on him.

He explained that the “main enemy” is the NDC who need to be confronted with a united front.

“I have instructed all my supporters and spokespersons that we must conduct a clean campaign, avoiding any form of insults.

“We are one family, and we must remain united. Once the contest concludes, we will come together as a cohesive force to ensure the NDC does not return to power,” he admonished.

The NPP will elect its flagbearer for the 2024 elections on November 4 with 10 flagbearer hopefuls undergoing a successful vetting.

This was disclosed in a press release issued on Wednesday, July 12.

According to the press statement, the Prof. Mike Oquaye Vetting Committee approved all 10 candidates after vetting them individually.

General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong said the Committee made this known in their report pursuant to Article 10(3) of the NPP constitution.
