With provisional results indicating a landslide victory for Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in the NPP’s super delegates’ conference, political analyst Prof. Smart Sarpong has proposed an alliance for the four runner-ups.

He says Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and Alan Kyerematen should consider aligning with any of the two other candidates, or among themselves, going into the November 4 contest.

Prof. Sarpong has, however, alluded to the fact that a candidate like Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former minister of Agriculture, has harnessed the flagbearer ambition for ages, and may find it difficult considering an alliance.

Speaking on TV3 during the coverage of the New Patriotic Party’s super delegates’ conference Saturday, August 26, 2023, Dr. Sarpong said any of the two candidates can come together to strengthen their chances in November, even if not to win, to push the poll into a runoff.

Meanwhile, Prof. Sarpong had earlier predicted Dr. Akoto was going to emerge the fourth candidate after the top three which appears to be happening.
