The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has defended the reported losses of the Bank of Ghana, insisting the expenditure must be viewed as part of efforts to stabilize the economy and protect livelihoods.

The party maintains that public debate on the economy must be grounded in facts and accountability.

Introducing the party’s position on the issue, during its relaunch of “setting the records straight “ Deputy National Communications Officer, Godwin Ako Gunn said the outcomes achieved justify the expenditure.

“The Bank of Ghana loss should be viewed as a strategic investment rather than a loss. It has produced tangible results.” He said.

The NDC also accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of abandoning policy debates in favour of propaganda and misinformation.

“Having failed to convince Ghanaians on policies and performance, the NPP has returned to propaganda.”

Despite the criticism, the governing party says it remains open to accountability and public scrutiny but warns against what it describes as deliberate attempts to spread falsehoods.

“The NDC is not afraid of criticism. We welcome constructive scrutiny, but we will not tolerate deliberate falsehoods and coordinated propaganda.”

The ruling party maintains that it will continue to defend policies it believes are in the national interest while responding to criticisms it considers misleading or politically motivated.
