It was emotional and heartbreaking at the laying in state of late Ghana international, Christian Atsu Twasam, as many were left in tears when his wife mounted the podium to read her tribute to her late husband.

After reading the first line twice and couldn’t continue, Marie-Claire Rupio, wife of the late former Black Stars winger had to leave her tribute for someone to read on her behalf.

Twin sister of the fallen star, Christiana Atsupie Twasam took over to read the tribute on behalf of her sister-in-law.

The remains of the late footballer who played for FC Porto, Everton, Chelsea, Hatayspor and AFC Bournemouth among other clubs was laid in state at the forecourt of the State House Friday, March 17, 2023.

Atsu was trapped under rubble of a storey building he occupied in Turkey after an earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria simultaneously.

After being missing for almost two weeks, his body was discovered under the rubble and subsequently flown to Ghana.

The family, in tandem with the state scheduled March 17 for his final funeral rites as it is being held at the forecourt of the State House.
