The Upper West Regional Police Command has sent a strong warning to students of Wa Technical Institute (Wa Tech) to ditch violence and focus on their studies.

The engagement by the Regional Police Command, on Tuesday, February 5, 2026, with the institute’s management and students, comes after a spate of student misconduct, including attacks on teachers and destruction of private and public properties.

“The engagement forms part of proactive policing initiatives aimed at crime prevention, youth mentorship, and strengthening cooperation between the police and educational institutions,” the Police said.

According to the police report, in the recent incidents, 21 students were hauled before the court for involvement in violent clashes, with some even attacking students from another school.

“The suspects were arraigned before the court and granted bail to reappear on February 19, 2026,” DCOP Yiribaare disclosed.

DCOP. Francis Yiribaare, Upper West Police Commander, has vowed to crack down on such behaviour, emphasising that they won’t hesitate to enforce the law.

“We won’t tolerate violence and vandalism. Such actions have serious consequences that can ruin your future,” DCOP Yiribaare warned the students.

The Police are calling on parents, school authorities, and students to work together to maintain peace and security within educational institutions.
