Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo says his team was lucky to make it to the last World Cup held in Qatar.

After winning emerging group winners in the second round, the Black Stars met Nigeria in the third round play-off.

Ghana sailed through on away goals after a goalless draw in Kumasi and a 1-1 draw in Abuja.

Speaking in an interview on Thursday, October 17, the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach said Ghana have struggled since missing out on the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“Since not qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, we’ve been struggling as a country for a long time,” he said.

“We were lucky to qualify in the 2022 [FIFA World Cup] with me,” he added.

”CK Akunnor also did work and Milo also because I want to mention as they were part of this not only me and we qualified for the 2022 World Cup and I hope and think that everybody who knows something about football and has been there at our home games when we played against Nigeria and Angola and even Sudan knows that the players have it.”

The former Black Stars midfielder led Ghana to a group-stage finish at the Qatar tournament, finishing behind Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
