John Dramani Mahama, Ghana’s President-elect, has reiterated his stance that the second opportunity given him by Ghanaians is not going to be business as usual.
He has forewarned persons seeking to serve in his administration to do so with diligence and humility, cautioning that anything apart from that will have no business in his administration.
According to the former President, he has received several calls and text messages from people after his victory, lobbying for positions in his government.
But at a Thanksgiving Service held in his honour at the Ringway Assemblies of God Church in Accra Sunday, December 15, 2024, John Mahama cautioned them to prepare for the challenges ahead.
“I have been receiving calls and knocks on my door, and text messages from people who are considering themselves for various positions. And I just want to warn them, it’s not going to be a walk in the park.
“If you’re not preparing to work and serve the people of Ghana diligently, modestly and with humility, then don’t come. Just stay where you are.”
The service was attended by his family, close friends, and members of his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mahama also reflected on his political journey, describing it as divinely inspired, acknowledging God’s guidance at every step.
He also expressed gratitude for the election triumph, and highlighted the work ahead due to the massive expectations from Ghanaians.
The Thanksgiving Service was filled with prayers and hymns as the congregation came together to celebrate Mahama’s victory and seek God’s continued guidance for his presidency.
