In a passionate call to action, Ibrahim Tia, the North East Regional Minister has urged assembly members across the six constituencies of the region to fully support the confirmation of the MMDCEs appointed by President John Dramani Mahama.
Mr Tia reassured Ghanaians that the confirmation process would be conducted in a fair and peaceful manner, emphasizing the need for collective action to drive development in the region.
In a significant appeal to local governance, North East Regional Minister Ibrahim Tia has called upon assembly members to rally behind President John Dramani Mahama’s appointed Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
During a recent meeting, Tia emphasized the importance of these appointments in propelling the development of the North East Region, which, despite being a new and youthful area, has faced challenges in growth and infrastructure.
“The confirmation process is not merely a procedural formality, it is a critical step that can shape the future of our region,” Tia stated, urging assembly members to prioritize the broader interests of their constituents over personal or political affiliations.
He highlighted that the assembly members’ decisions should be rooted in the needs and aspirations of the people they represent. Tia reassured assembly members and citizens alike that the confirmation process would be conducted fairly and peacefully, fostering an environment of cooperation and mutual respect.
“We must all strive to ensure that our actions today contribute to a prosperous tomorrow for our region,” he said, underscoring the significance of unity in the face of developmental challenges.
The Minister also encouraged assembly members to reach out to his office for any developmental needs or plans they may have. “My office is here to support you in addressing the challenges you face in your communities. Together, we can create a roadmap for sustainable development,” he affirmed.
Assembly members at the meeting responded positively to Tia’s call, expressing their commitment to considering the interests of their electoral areas. Many shared their views on the importance of confirming the nominees based on public interest, recognizing that their decisions could have lasting impacts on their communities.
“We understand our responsibilities, and we will ensure that the voices of our constituents are heard in this process,” one assembly member remarked.
The North East Region is set to commence the confirmation of the nominees within the week, marking a pivotal moment in local governance. Minister Tia has taken proactive steps by meeting with a cross-section of assembly members, advocating for a peaceful and fair process.
“Let us follow due process and give our absolute endorsement to the President’s choices. This is not just about politics, it is about building a better future for all of us,” he urged.
As the confirmation process unfolds, the focus remains on fostering a spirit of collaboration among assembly members and the community. With the shared goal of advancing regional development, Tia’s appeal serves as a reminder of the vital role local governance plays in shaping the lives of Ghanaians in the North East Region.
The coming days will be crucial as assembly members prepare to cast their votes, and the anticipation builds for the impact these decisions will have on the region’s progress.
