Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku has described as premature questions on a possible third term in office.

The 31st Ordinary Session of Congress of the Association on Tuesday, August 12 voted overwhelmingly for a third-term limit for a GFA President.

Over 100 delegates of club representatives and football administrators gathered at the Hon. E. T. Mensah Hall of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence to vote on the proposal.

A total of 114 voted in favour of the third-term limit with three people abstaining and six dissenting.

At the post-Congress press conference, Mr Okraku indicated that he will take a decision to seek a possible re-election or not when the time is due.

“The question is premature,” he contended.

“We have at the minute almost two-and-a-half years to serve the Ghanaian game and when it comes to that time I will make a decision just like many other people who are eligible to make a decision and to contest.”

He admonished that energy should rather be channeled into a discussion on the new wind of investment into the domestic game.

Not long ago, the nation’s football-governing body secured a broadcast deal with Adesa Productions Limited (APL) that will rake in at least GH¢1 million for each Ghana Premier League club.

Mr Okraku announced that the winners of the 2025/26 League will get GH¢2 million with each of the surviving clubs going home with some money.

He said referees’ remuneration has also been reviewed with FIFA referees getting GH¢2,500 while non-FIFA referees get GH¢2,000 per game.

The Congress was themed: ‘Winning the 12th Man, Youth Empowerment & Consolidating Our Gains’.
