It’s the climax of the Supreme Ankos Village, partnership between Media General’s radio station in Takoradi , Connect FM and the Supreme Masqueraders club in Takoradi.
The three-day event has seen different Ankos groups showcasing their prowess in style and dance, among others.
From the celebrated Supreme Ankos Village, where Media Generals Connect FM partnered to launch this year’s first-ever masquerade festival, some forty-five groups paraded through to display their moves and dancing artistry.

Every year, these troupes bring something distinct from the costumes and painted canvases to the intricate masks, and this edition was no exception.
The excitement was immense, the energy high. People traveled from far and near to witness the awe-inspiring performances, drawing crowds that included high-profile figures and top-tier politicians alike.

Also spotted in the crowd was the Western Regional Representative of the Council of State, Dr. Maxwell Boakye. Interestingly, this marked Dr. Boakye’s first appearance in full masquerade costume.
He shared his enthusiasm for the festival, expressing how thrilled he was by the vibrant celebrations.

“I must say this is my first experience, and I am thrilled to be part of this procession. Seeing both young and old mingling so freely tells us that we truly have peace in this country, especially here in this region. I would encourage anyone who missed this year’s event to make time next year it will be a wonderful opportunity and a lasting memory.
I also want to thank the people of the Western Region for upholding this unique tradition over the years. Please do not let it fade. I truly enjoyed the masquerade.” He stated.

Richard Kirk Mensah, the Corporate Head of Communications at Ghana National Gas Ltd., also noted, “What I will say is that this masquerade festival has come to stay.
It is a unique festival that identifies the people of the Western Region, and we must all come together—the media partners and corporate Ghana—to ensure this festival lives on.”

With the joy and excitement of the successful festival, Henry Yeledour, the Western Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, expressed his appreciation for the hospitality and support shown by the region’s residents.
He stated, “We know we celebrate Sekondi Takoradi Bronya on the strength of the masqueraders and today represents the climax of this festival.
As a major stakeholder, we have managed all the activities and wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all media houses, especially Connect FM 97.1, for the pivotal role they played in this year’s event. We also want to reaffirm that Christmas belongs to Sekondi Takoradi.”
