The Canadian government has refused the visa application of Black Stars midfielder Thomas Teye Partey, FIFA has confirmed.

It is unclear what the reason for the decision is.

But the former Arsenal midfielder has been standing trial for multiple rape charges said to have been committed during his time in London.

He has since moved to Spain, plying his trade for Villarreal.

“FIFA can confirm that player Thomas Partey will be unable to travel from Ghana’s Team Base Camp in Boston, USA, to Canada for their first match against Panama on Wednesday, 17 June, as his visa application has been refused by the Canadian government.,” the world-governing football body said.

Partey has been part of the Black Stars team since opening camping in Wales and has been with the team throughout its camping in the United States of America.
