Pupils in Brosanko and Bodoma in the Bekwai Municipality are set for a major transformation after years of learning in deteriorated wooden and mud structures.
The Bekwai Municipal Assembly has completed the construction of 3-unit classroom block for both communities through the District Assemblies Common Fund.
The new facilities are expected to provide pupils and teachers with safer and more conducive environments for teaching and learning, bringing relief to communities that have endured years of inadequate classroom infrastructure.
During an inspection of the projects, Bekwai Municipal Chief Executive, Issaka Salia Salifu, said the poor state of the schools was among the first challenges he encountered after assuming office.
He explained that the situation prompted the Assembly to prioritize the construction of the new classroom blocks to improve educational outcomes in the affected communities.
“Education is the foundation of development. If we want to secure the future of our children, we must provide them with the right environment to learn. These new classroom blocks are part of our commitment to giving our children the opportunity they deserve,” he said.
The new classroom blocks are equipped with water supply and sanitary facilities, providing pupils with a safer, cleaner, and more conducive environment for learning.
Mr. Salifu disclosed that the facilities will be officially commissioned and handed over to the Ghana Education Service for use when schools reopen after the long vacation.
The MCE also inspected an ongoing Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Bodoma, which has reached the roofing stage.
He expressed confidence that the facility would be completed soon and made operational to improve access to basic healthcare for residents.
