Movie director and producer, Fred Nuamah, has rescinded his decision to contest for the candidacy of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso West Wuogon (AWW) constituency. He has rather declared his support for his colleague, John Setor Dumelo.
At a small ceremony held Monday night, August 7, 2023, the Mr. Nuamah indicated he is no more contesting for the seat but would rather support Mr. Dumelo to represent the party and subsequently clinch the seat for the NDC.
John Dumelo had earlier described Fred Nuamah’s decision to contest him as a “stab in the back.”

Nuamah, who is in the creative industry with Dumelo announced his intention to contest the Ayawaso seat on the ticket of the NDC, a seat previously contested by Dumelo under the umbrella symbol.
Fred Nuamah had said he was contesting to be the Parliamentary Candidate because Dumelo has told him he was no more interested in the seat but was rather considering the Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi and Likpe (SALL) seat in the Oti region.
But according to the actor, he never discussed with anyone of an intention to ditch the seat, adding that the ongoing rumours about a discussion he had with Fred in the presence of Yaw Sakyi about his disinterest in the contest was a falsity.

John Dumelo said the film director and producer was not his friend considering the fact that he was trying to contest a seat he Dumelo would be contesting after knowing each other for two decades.
Fred Nuamah had earlier told Graphic Showbiz that: “Frankly, it’s late to step down. My brother informed me and a lot of people that he was not going to contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency again. He gave me his blessings when I made up my mind to contest.”
The National Elections Committee of the NDC suspended the primary in the constituency due to the scuffle.
But with recent development, resolution seem to have been arrived and Ayawaso West Wuogon would finally get to know the candidate that would be contesting for the seat on the ticket of the NDC.
