Lawyer Ace Kojo Ankomah is reported to have withdrawn from the five-member committee set up by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to search for a new coach for the Black Stars.

The committee was set up after the termination of the contract of Chris Hughton following the abysmal performance of his team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

GFA Vice Chairman Mark Addo leads the committee as Chairman with the ace lawyer as his vice.

But with Mr Ankomah’s latest decision, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Databank, Kojo Addae-Mensah, has been named as his replacement.

The other members of the committee are GFA’s Director of Coaching Education Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, Chief Director at the Ministry of Youth and Sports William Kartey Caesar and former footballer Opoku Nti.

The committee has been given three weeks within which to recommend and announce the new coach.

The new coach, among others, should be a proven top men’s national team or club football coach, must have a football philosophy that aligns with or complements Ghana’s DNA and must hold the highest football license in the world with over 15 years of experience.

He or she must also have a proven track record in team reconstruction, organisation and development of young talent and must be a disciplinarian, tactician and possess leadership skills.
