After a shambolic display in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the Black Stars have been cautioned to elevate their performance and qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a group of Angola, Sudan and Niger, Ghana led by Otto Addo failed to qualify for the Morocco tournament, finishing at the bottom in the qualifiers.
Ghanaians were cascaded with frustrations following the Black Stars abysmal performance in the qualifiers with calls for the sacking of coach Otto Addo escalated.
Otto Addo has been handed another opportunity to redeem himself by qualifying Ghana to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With the remaining rounds of the World Cup qualifiers approaching in 2025, the chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association, Samuel Aboabire, has emphasized the need for the players to enhance their performance.
He stressed that it’s crucial for the players to recognize the significance of the upcoming games.
“I will urge the Black Stars players to step up their performance.
”The GFA is under pressure following the Black Stars performance but [GFA] President Kurt Okraku has high expectations for the players,” Mr Aboabire told Onua TV in an interview on Agoro Fie.
He added that, “Ghana has been unlucky in 2024 when it comes to the national team performances but we hope for the best in 2025.”
