Champions Al Ahly continue their unbeaten run in this year’s CAF Champions League, seeing off Ghana’s Medeama SC in the second round of the competition.

The Egyptian giants beat the Ghanaian champions 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, February 23, courtesy a second half strike by El Shahat.

It was a crucial game for the home side as a win would have taken them on top of Group D, going past the record winners.

However, the Yellow and Mauves failed to convert the set pieces that came their way in the first half.

The visitors, who won the first leg 3-0 at home, emerged buoyed from the break, finding the back of the net after barely 3 minutes of play.

There were no additional goals as it ended 1-0.

The Egyptians, as a result, extend their lead at the top with 9 points and are followed by Algeria’s CR Belouizdad and Tanzania’s Young Africans, who are both on 5 points.

The Ghanaians are bottom with 4 points.

They will next travel to Algiers to face CR Belouizdad exactly a week from today.
