Executive Director of survey house, Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is more energised in this year’s elections compared to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, the polls he has conducted in the past months on the upcoming elections show that the governing NPP has lost touch with the base of the party and cannot mobilise its grassroots compared to the NDC.
He explains that although the numbers that turned up to the University of Ghana for the party’s final rally on Thursday, December 05, 2024 looked huge, it does not defy the reality on the grounds, citing the NDC’s final rally in 2016 which saw huger numbers than what was recorded yesterday.
Speaking on Ghana Decides 2024 on TV3 Friday, December 06, 2024, Mr. Dankwah noted that the NPP cannot rejoice over the numbers it recorded at the rally since the surveys conducted over the period has not been in their favour.
He noted that most of the places where people disclosed during their surveys that they will not vote are areas where the NPP has been favoured over the years.
“The enthusiasm is not on the part of NPP in this election. And it is a fact. They are not energised. The opposition is more energised than the ruling party and the polls have said that several times.
“Polls have shown that, nationally, those who said they will not vote most of them are from Eastern region, Ashanti region, Western region, Central region, these are areas where NPP gets votes from,” he stated.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) yesterday, Thursday, December 05, 2024, organised its last mega rally at Madina, a suburb of Accra, whilst the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) did same at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The two parties drew crowds from various parts of the capital city including those attending from other regions, where the two presidential candidates delivered their last campaign messages to the electorates.
Although this has been happening in previous elections, this is the first time the two parties organised their final rallies on the same day, same time and at venues that is just about a kilometre apart.
