Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has confirmed that some brilliant coaches applied for the Black Stars job when it was vacant.

He, however, noted that former coach Otto Addo was exceptional during his interview.

The Borussia Dortmund talent coach has been handed a 34-month contract with a further option of a 24-month extension.

He is scheduled to permanently take charge in May but will be on the bench in the Stars’ friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda.

Commenting on the re-appointment of Otto Addo, the GFA President said other good coaches were interested in the job and were all taken through rigorous interviews.

“There were some brilliant individuals among the coaches who applied for the job, so the committee took the pain to interview a chunk of them to pick their thoughts on their intentions to transform the team within a short period of time due to our peculiar situation,” Kurt Okraku told the GFA’s portal.

“The Committee was overly satisfied with Otto’s performance for which reason he was recommended to the Executive Council for approval,” he added.

Otto Addo was in charge of the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
