Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have clinched their first win in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.
The Mauve and Yellows beat CR Belouizdad of Algeria 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, December 1.
Medeama SC lost their first game on Saturday, November 25 in Cairo after succumbing to a 3-0 loss to defending champions Al Ahly.
Playing in their first home game, albeit at Kumasi’s Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the Ghanaians came from a goal down to beat the Algerian side, who beat Tanzania’s Yanga 3-0 in their first game.
It was the Algerians who took the lead through an Abdelraouf Benguit penalty but Daniel Lomotey’s low freekick just before the break cancelled that goal.
The two sides, therefore, were with one goal apiece starting the second half.
With equal chances coming the ways of the two sides, the home side proved stronger as Kamaradin Mamudu clinched their winner in injury time.
