Former Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have confirmed former Accra Lions Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko as their new coach.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, January 29 after the necessary formalities were completed.
It comes weeks after the dismissal of Nebojsa Kapor, whose predecessor, Augustine Evans Adotey, was tasked to take temporary charge.
Evans Adotey returns to head the technical directorate of the club.
Ibrahim Tanko’s contract is set to span two-and-a-half years.
Speaking for the first time, the UEFA Licence A holder said he is familiar with the Western Region club as he has been friends with the President for the past half a dozen years.
“So, today I am here [and] I find a new home so definitely I’m feeling happy,” he told the club.
The former Black Meteors coach said the Mauve and Yellows are one of the biggest clubs in the country especially judging from what they have done in the past decade.
“With all the infrastructure, I think it is a very good choice for me. I think I can make it happen again.”
He parried talks about pressure, promising that there will be more trophies for the side before his tenure comes to an end.
He promised supporters better days ahead.
“I will only tell them that I will give them my best and I’m sure that at the end the best will be more fruitful for them so that they will also be happy.”
The former Assistant Black Stars coach will be in the dugout on Sunday when Medeama SC take on Legon Cities at the TnA Stadium.
