Former champions Hearts of Oak brushed aside Bechem United 2-0 in their Matchday 3 game of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Two second-half strikes by Ransford Mensah and Hamza Issah gave the Phobians their first win of the 2024/25 league season.
Prior to Sunday’s game at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Hearts had gone two matches without a win.
They lost their first game of the season to debutants Basake Holy Stars
The winless run to the start of the season put pressure not only on coach Aboubakar Ouattara but also the players.
Therefore, the Bechem United clash became a make or break situation for the entire team.
After a frustrating goalless first half, the Accra-based side had to go in-depth to produce something extraordinary.
And it came in the 51st minute through Mensah.
With 15 minutes to end the game, Issah made it two, putting his side on the road to all the three points.
The win lifts Hearts of Oak from bottom of the table to 10th.
They will play an in-form Nations FC side, who went to Dormaa to pick all the three points Aduana Stars.
