President John Mahama has announced his intention to appoint Ministers of Defence, Environment, Science and Technology next year after the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The president’s comments come after several calls on him to appoint the substantive Ministers following the passing of Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Dr Murtala Mohamed in the helicopter crash.
Speaking during a meeting with Muslim leaders at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, November 25., he said, “They say Allah gives and Allah takes. He took two of our comrades, and we haven’t filled those positions yet.”
President Mahama further dismissed rumours of imminent appointments, stressing that these rumours were unfounded.
“I can see people speculating he is going to appoint a new Defence minister, a new Environment minister. We are not in a hurry,” he stated.
He assured that the government will make the necessary appointments early next year.
“We will do those appointments next year. After the holiday, the Christmas and the holiday, we will fill those positions,” he said.
The deceased were subsequently offered a state burial.
