The entire new Kejetia Central Market has been taken off the national grid, a situation which has triggered a massive demonstration Friday morning.

The aggrieved traders say all efforts to get the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) install individual metres have yielded no results.

Onuaonline also gathers, the traders owe the power distributor huge debts spanning over a year now.

The state of the market which houses over seven thousand shops are connected to only one metre, a situation that has caused a long standing feud between traders and the market’s Board of Directors.

City authorities say they cannot assure safety of the traders and their goods if the power cut persists hence the indefinite closure of the market is eminent.
