The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has postponed League games of champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC in the Women’s Premier League following an inferno at the club’s hostel in Techiman in the Bono East Region.

The fire on Friday, December 22 swept through the club’s hostel, which also houses players of another women’s side Fosu Ladies.

Several properties worth billions of Ghana Cedis were lost to the fire.

The club has described the day as “tough”, calling it ‘Black Friday’.

It said it hopes to come back “stronger”.

The Competitions Department of the GFA has since announced that the Matchday 8 and 9 fixtures of the club – against Tamale Super Ladies and Kumasi Sports Academy respectively – as well its outstanding game against Northern Ladies have been postponed “until further notice”.

“New dates will be communicated in due course for the outstanding matches to be honoured.”

The cause of the inferno is not yet known as investigations have begun into the incident.
