Daniel Kwaku Botwe, Member of Parliament for Okere, has, become the latest stalwart within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to endorse the candidacy of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, for the party’s upcoming presidential primary.

Dan Botwe, who is also Minister of Local Government and Rural Development made the declaration whilst addressing party delegates in the constituency.

Reflecting on his rich experience within the NPP, Mr. Botwe emphasised his deep knowledge of the elephant family and the key figures in it.

He said he loves all the ten aspirants for the flagbearership position but reaffirmed his unflinching dedication to the NPP and why he sees the Vice President as the perfect choice for the party for the December 2024 showdown.

According to him “when it comes to the future of our beloved country, Ghana, the NPP is the only party that can guarantee progress.”

With a keen eye on the political landscape and an intimate understanding of the inner workings of the party, the seasoned politician stressed the importance of a strategic decision to secure victory in the forthcoming elections.

“After much thoughtful consideration and careful analysis, I am confident that the best strategic decision for the NPP is to elect Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as our flagbearer,” Mr. Botwe indicated, stating Dr. Bawumia’s unmatched record, competence and loyalty to the NPP as his reason for supporting him.

Ten persons are aspiring for the flagbearer of the NPP with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trade and lndustry Minister, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Assin Central Member of Parliament, being the key competitors for the elections.

Meanwhile, National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has likened the ten aspirants to the 10 biblical lepers.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia, who was then General Secretary of the NDC described the aspirants who wanted to succeed John Agyekum Kufuor as 17 thieves, describing the upcoming contest as the battle between the lepers.

Speaking with Captain Smart on Maakye Thursday, August 3, 2023, Chairman Asiedu Nketia said his prophecy that the NPP were going to elect the master thief amongst the 17 has been fulfilled after the party settled on Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over a decade and a half ago.

General Mosquito, after saying he was severely criticised by many for speaking the truth then said he didn’t want to get himself into any trouble this time around, but, ended up saying the 10 aspirants are like the 10 Biblical Lepers who were healed by Jesus.

As stated in the Bible, Johnson Asiedu Nketia noted the only leper who returned to express gratitude to Jesus would be the one to be elected as flagbearer in the NPP’s upcoming polls.
