About 113 BECE candidates who attended school at Twifo Praso Model, Twifo Daamang D/A Basic School and Precious Montesory all in the Twifo Atti-morkwa district of the Central region have experienced the shock of their lives.

The West African Examination Council withheld results of these 2022 BECE candidates only to be informed Sunday, March 19, 2023, that their entire results have been cancelled, denying them the opportunity to enter senior high school.

According to the dismayed candidates, they toiled their blood to learn hard to become beneficiaries of the free senior  high school only to be told their results have been cancelled.

“WAEC, we beg you, please come to the aid of my kid and don’t punish them because of just the English Language. They also need to enjoy some of the free SHS,” a disturbed mother said.

A distressed man also added that: we can’t leave our children home anymore because we are afraid they will harm themselves. Some of them are contemplating suicide and I for instance cannot leave my child at home. We are pleading with WAEC to come to their aid.”

Meanwhile, a pregnant woman whose daughter was part of the candidates has also suffered a miscarriage when she heard the bad news that her daughter’s BECE results has been cancelled by WAEC. Arise FM’s Nana Kwame Essel reported from Twifo Praso.
