A member of Ghana’s squad in her last World Cup campaign, Rabiu Mohammed has revealed poor decisions by the management led to the abysmal output displayed by the Black Stars in their last edition of the Mundial.

After reaching the knockout stage and the quarter finals in their two maiden participation, much was expected from the Black Stars in their last qcampaign in Brazil 2014.

But unfortunately, they exited the tournament earlier than expected after becoming the only team the eventual winners –Germany –could not defeat.

In an exclusive on Akoma Sports Wednesday, November 2, 2022, the ex Black Stars midfielder, Rabiu Mohammed disclosed the $100k appearance fee paid them in cash in Brazil is what took over their concentration, leading.to the poot performance they exhibited in their last two games after a stunning performance against Germany.

Even though there were several other factors which affected them in a way, the flown dollars was the main reason they lost concentration on what actually took them there.

“Our wish was to win the tournament, so we needed good performance and luck but then things did not turn out as we wished. We didn’t do well in two of our games that is against USA and Portugal.

“I will also agree with Ghanaians who say that we were somehow chasing money and lost concentration along the way.

“Another reason why we failed was that our players were a bit tired because we needed to travel like three (3) hours to our next venue to play Portugal after our game with Germany, we were clearly tired,” Mr. Mohammed told Abusuapanin Otuo Acheampong on Akoma Sports.

However, amid the tiredness and few other challenges that are typical in football, the appearance fee was the bullet that shot the team down.

“But I will sum up that we didn’t do well due to the appearance fee which was not paid to us on time and only given to us before playing against Portugal. And this affected a lot of us because our concentration was on the $100,000 fee and I’m wishing same will not occur to the current team going into Qatar 2022 World Cup,” he prayed.
