The Chairman of the five-member search committee for a new coach for the Black Stars has assured that the best person will be chosen for the job.

Mark Addo, who is also the Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), says the person to be selected will fulfill all the criteria set out by the committee.

The committee was set up by the Executive Council of the GFA to within three weeks get a replacement for Chris Hughton, who was sacked immediately the Black Stars exited the Africa Cup of Nations.

According to the statement, announcing the committee, the new coach, among others, should be a proven top men’s national team or club football coach, must have a football philosophy that aligns with or complements Ghana’s DNA and must hold the highest football license in the world with over 15 years of experience.

He or she must also have a proven track record in team reconstruction, organisation and development of young talent and must be a disciplinarian, tactician and possess leadership skills.

Speaking to Akoma FM on Wednesday, February 7 on the sidelines of a press conference in Kumasi on the AFCON campaign, Mark Addo said the best person will be selected to lead Ghana.

He said the committee is committed to getting the team back to the glory days, just like any other Ghanaian.

He also disclosed that over 600 applications have been received with regard to the vacancy.

He assured that the new coach will be named soon.
