On the Tuesday, August 17, 2022 edition of Onua TV/FM’s morning show, Maakye, the 2024 Independent Presidential Hopeful, Kofi Koranteng listed what he will do differently when he assumes power.

Discussing how successive governments have failed the nation, especially in the Fourth Republic, Mr. Koranteng noted several things that puts a burden on the public purse and causes wastage would be done away with.

The first thing he stated was to revert the 16 regions to 10 and give each region two legislators, reducing the 275 Members of Parliament to 20.

He adds that he will appoint 20 ministers to handle the various sectors of the ec onomy, reducing the numerous ministerial appointments drastically.

With a total GH₵573 million being spent on various boards and councils, Mr. Koranteng said he will dissolve all governing boards since they have outlived their usefulness in this digital age.

The much debated on Article 71 office holders would be expunged from the constitution, ensuring nobody enjoys an end of service benefit at the expense of other Ghanaian workers.

Whilst cancelling ex-gratia for some office holders, the road toll which the New Patriotic Party cancelled would be reintroduced, but this time to ensure the proceeds are used to better the road network.

Mr. Koranteng believes his $10 billion commitment to the agriculture sector, with a highly based technological approach will increase production, curbing the incessant inflation that has bedevilled the nation.

In ensuring that becomes a reality, constructing the road network in the agricultural communities would enhance transportation of goods to warehouses.

The most critical thing, he added, is to bring Ghana’s debt to a sustainable level to build the economy to the extent where meaningful income would be generated by the citizenry.

This, according to the politician would aid the bringing to being of middle class citizens who would create the economic combustion for the economy to be sustained.

With Ghana lacking a middle class, it would be very difficult to sustain the economy with the lower and upper class since the former has nothing meaningful to contribute, whilst the latter spend their wealth outside the country.

Most developing nations, Mr. Koranteng noted are built to develop. However, Ghana is in a recovery state since the country has been collapsed by the predecessors long ago.
