Black Stars’ Head Coach Otto Addo says he wants to exorcise the specter that has seen the team not reach the knock-out phase since that spectacular run in 2010.
Addo led the Stars to two losses – against Portugal and Uruguay – and a win – against South Korea – in the last edition, in Qatar, kicking the team out at the group stage.
Speaking in an interview with MG Sports on Wednesday, October 15, Otto Addo said he would like to “overcome” the group stage and make it to the next in Canada, Mexico & USA.
“I want to overcome the group stage, but then, from there, it’s difficult to predict,” he indicated, urging all players to represent Ghana at the tournament to harbour self-motivation in order to make it.
“It’s very, very important that we believe in ourselves, we keep the flexibility which we have already, and the players understand what we want to do.
“This style of play for the long term will give us a lot of chances to go far in that World Cup.”
Ghana’s opponents at the tournament will be known on Friday, December 5 when the draw will be held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.
