A new political party, Action Alliance Party (AAP) has been officially unveiled with a bold pledge to transform governance and put citizens at the heart of decision-making.

The launch, held at the Upper West Regional Capital in Wa, drew party faithful, farmers, youth groups, and curious onlookers eager to witness what organisers described as the beginning of a “new political era.”

Addressing the gathering, Founder and Leader of the party, Namuru Tahiru declared that the AAP is not just another addition to Ghana’s crowded political space, but a movement built on action, accountability, and practical solutions.

“Ghana does not need more promises; Ghana needs results,” he said to loud applause, setting the tone for what he described as a people-driven political revolution.

The unveiling comes at a time when public frustration with traditional political actors, including the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), continues to grow over economic challenges and unmet expectations.

“Our journey will not be easy. Change is never easy. But we are a party rooted in action, driven by purpose, and committed to results. Together, we will work tirelessly to ensure that our farmers prosper, our youth find opportunities, and Ghana becomes a nation where leadership truly serves the people not the other way around,” Tahiru strongly stated.

Tahiru emphasised that the AAP seeks to bridge the gap between leadership and ordinary citizens, particularly farmers, traders, and unemployed youth.

He outlined a vision centred on revitalising agriculture, creating jobs, and ensuring fair economic opportunities across all regions.

The AAP leader recounted the challenges he faced in establishing the party, noting that the journey, which began in 2018, involved nationwide mobilisation and significant personal sacrifice.

He stated that the party finally secured full registration from the Electoral Commission of Ghana in October 2024, following years of persistence.

“This journey has not been easy. I had to sell lands, farm produce, animals, and even family properties to sustain this dream,” he disclosed, adding that the sacrifices were necessary to build a credible alternative political movement.

Touching on leadership, Tahiru stressed that effective governance should be measured by integrity, vision, and service to the people, rather than academic qualifications.

He said leaders must understand and respond to the real needs of communities.

“Leadership is not defined by degrees or diplomas, but by vision, integrity, and the ability to serve”, he stated.

National executive members of the party were also sworn into office after they were unanimously confirmed by Congress.

The executives include; Nazir Abdul-Rahman Darlinton – National Chairman, Dawdi Mohammed Gias – 1st Vice Chairman, Orison Salifu Siita – General Secretary, and Samari Hadi, National Treasurer.

Others are Braimah Marizuka Rita, Deputy Treasurer, Dawdi Abdul-Razak, National Youth organiser, Lucy-Mary N. Baataar -National Women organiser, Sherifa Salifu Waa, Deputy Women Organiser, Abdul-Kudus Mohammed Communication Director, and Banornumah Alberta, Deputy Communication Director.

Supporters of the party who were at the event expressed optimism that the new party represents a fresh start.
