Former Ghana Premier League champions Berekum Chelsea have fallen foul of the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols introduced at the end of the 2024/25 season.

This was during their 0-1 loss to Asante Kotoko on Matchday 1 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.

The Bono Region club also breached the Ghana Premier League Regulations, 2025.

According to the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Berekum Chelsea allowed their Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Obed Nana Nketia, an unauthorised official, into the inner perimeter of the Golden City Park while the match was ongoing.

“They are also alleged to have failed to ensure that all their players had their names displayed at the back of their strips.

“The Club is further alleged to have failed to organise the mandatory pre-match briefing for their Head Coach.”

The club has until Tuesday, September 16 to respond to the charges.

The Blues conceded a late goal in their match as Asante Kotoko’s Albert Amoah made no mistake to beat Emmanuel Adu in post.
