The District Chief Executive of Suaman Dadieso in the Western North region, Vasco Obour, has outlined his four-year development plan for the residents as representative of President John Dramani Mahama in the polity.
The DCE, appearing on Onua TV’s flagship programme, Maakye, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, laid out his ambitions, hoping for the central government’s intervention to ensure the vision becomes a reality.
According to him, one of the foremost initiatives is the construction of a university, a promise the DCE asserts was made by President Mahama himself during the election campaign period.
He elaborated on the benefits the university will bring to the Suaman and Dadieso communities, including employment opportunities.
“The first is for His Excellency to fulfill his promise of gifting us a university to create various opportunities for residents of Dadieso and Suaman. I believe our brothers from La Côte d’Ivoire may be tempted to come and enroll since we are close to them,” he stated, adding that a tertiary institution of study in the district “will also provide job opportunities for the people. The chiefs are looking forward to it, so they reminded me to mention it when I was coming.”
Mr. Obour also emphasised the necessity of connecting the entire district through road infrastructure, lamenting how the solitary route between major townships poses a significant challenge to residents.
He noted that inhabitants have initiated processes to ensure the township’s connectivity is enhanced to facilitate vehicular movement. “One of the biggest challenges of the constituency is movement from one suburb to the other. There is only one road, which is the Dichemso-Blackman road. So one of the legacies I want to leave is to connect the inner city or the suburbs, so the assembly has started building our own culverts to connect the entire township,” he said.
Obour further decried the escalating unemployment in the district, sharing how his car is filled with CVs of graduates from his area who are seeking employment. “The final one is youth employment. My car is filled with CVs. The youth of Suaman are very illustrious and educated, so the youth have the qualifications,” he disclosed.
The DCE further stated that ten mechanised boreholes have been earmarked for construction in the district, explaining that a thorough forensic environmental audit would be conducted by experts to ensure they are not situated in galamsey-prone areas where the soil has been contaminated with chemicals.
Also, he said they will construct three educational facilities, including a Junior High School (JHS) at Toya in Tailorkrom, which he promised to complete within a year. There will also be a nursery school at Dadieso, and a 6-unit classroom block at Jakitekrom.
Meanwhile, residents of Suaboi and Suiboo will also benefit from a Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound each.
