Former Petrojet striker Eric Bekoe has revealed the reason an interest from Egyptian giants Zamalek SC fizzled out.

“When I got to Egypt, Zamalek’s only reason for not signing me was because they said I was too smallish,” he said.

“Because when you looked at the [Mohamed] Aboutrikas, Wael fGomaas and [Amr] Zakys, I was diminutive.

“For Wael Gomaa, for instance, I was just somewhere below his chest. He was big and tall, a giant, but you realise we’ve gone through the process.”

Bekoe shared these revelations on Agoro Fie on Onua TV on Thursday, April 3, when he appeared on the daily show.

He was speaking on the need for Ghanaian players to be consistent to merit selection into top sides.

“We trained hard because those times you woke up early at about 3:30am and trained.”

He lamented how the current players are concerned more about their salaries than bonuses.

“The salaries are more or less for players and the bonuses are for the club. So if you are a player and concerned about salaries, you are wicked.”
