In the heart of Ghana, where the forest breathes and the rivers sing, the people of the land lived in many small chiefdoms. Each clan had its own leader, drumbeat, and story.

Though they spoke the same language and shared the same ancestors, they were often divided by pride and war.

Then came Irene Adwoa Sika Quist, whose name is rooted in royalty and traces its origin to the Golden Stool of the Ashanti Kingdom, the “Sika Dwa Kofi”.

Sika, which many easily interpret as wealth or money, is the representative for the Ashanti Region in this year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful. She’s a fearless and sharp young woman driven by a fierce inner motivation, drawing inspiration from women who champion change.

With a calm demeanour and unyielding purpose, she safeguards what’s precious, nurtures future generations, and stands resolute against forces that threaten to dim her light.

In 2020, Sika bid farewell to St. Louis Senior High School, where she had excelled as both the main Head Girl and SRC President, leaving a lasting legacy. After a transformative year, Sika pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Ghana, where she read Political Science and French.

During her time on campus, she held several leadership positions, including Women’s Commissioner in her second year and Electoral Commission Chairperson for the French Students’ Association in her fourth year. She was later appointed Deputy Electoral Commissioner for the School of Languages. Following the completion of her undergraduate studies, Sika fulfilled her national service obligation. Currently, she’s advancing her education with a post-first-degree law program.

Whenever life’s pressures mount or academic stress peaks, a steaming bowl of Fufu with Abunuabunu soup, loaded with succulent snails, dry fish, and mushrooms, with Uncle Ato “Mensuro” in the background, works its magic. The comforting flavours transport her back to a place of serenity, reminding her that she’s never alone and that God’s grace is always sufficient.

This year, Sika, who is affectionately called “Sei Kutuu, Sei Bam”, dared herself to compete among the many beautiful maidens from her region to lead them like Yaa Asantewaa against the other regions for the prestigious GMB Crown. And it seems the gods of the Ashanti Kingdom smiled upon her, as she’s now a finalist in the competition.

Like a caterpillar, twenty-four-year-old Sika has grown episode after episode, captivating audiences nationwide with her breathtaking showmanship. Her articulation, originality, clarity, passion and confidence have earned her two most eloquent awards and ten nominations in the competition.

To her, the GMB experience has been a transformative odyssey, one that has so far tested her intellect, endurance, and creativity. It has redefined how she sees culture and leadership, much like a mirror through which she has discovered new dimensions of herself and purpose.

With or without the crown, she believes she has come a long way in the competition and that is entirely by God’s grace and the overwhelming support from her team and Team Sika. Although the ultimate goal is to win the crown, she will not stop continuing to advocate for children affected by illegal mining even if the crown slips from her.

Sika is the eleventh person from the Ashanti Region to compete in the grand finale and the possible third winner after Queen Akua Amoakowaa in 2011 and Queen Benedicta Sarfoa Asamoah of 2021.

The proud daughter of Kumasi, with an unshakable spirit and determination, says she is ready to step up her game at the showdown but is calling for votes to make her dream a reality.

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the National Theatre, Sika will battle it out with Asakia, Etornam, Nana and Adjokor for the Crown, Cash, Car and Bragging Rights of 2025 Ghana’s Most Beautiful Queen. It will be a night of dreams, drama, and destiny as these five finalists light up the stage in a battle of pure talent, grace, and brilliance.
