There has been massive reactions to the disappointing performance of the Black Stars at the Africa Cup of Nations in La Côte d’Ivoire.
The four-time champions exited at the group stage after failing to win a single match in a group that had lowly-ranked Mozambique and Cape Verde.
Some of the players have also rendered apologies to fans for the poor showing of the team at the tournament.
One of such players is Fenerbahce defender Alexander Djiku.
Djiku was named Man of the Match in Ghana’s first game.
He took to X, formerly Twitter, to say sorry and thank the fans for the support in the three games played at the tourney.
Words will certainly not be enough to erase the disillusionment.💔🙏🏾
We are disappointed and very sorry for our Ghanaian people that we have failed at this stage of the competition, but if you only knew how grateful we are to have been supported by you, our Ghanaian fans.❤️💛💚 pic.twitter.com/HJsAg4U4Jp

But after posting his apology on X, followers including notable sports journalists responded favourably with some asking that he is made the next captain of the team.

Incoming captain for our beloved black stars, you will surely hold the African cup trophy before you retire. You will be Ghana’s captain for our next Afcon and World Cup! 🙏🏾

But one fan expressed concerns about the former RC Strasbourg defender’s style of play.
U like boomboom too much , add composure and calmness to your game and you will be the best in Africa ❤️🙏
